Deets: CCF Community Initiatives Fund benefiting LA Students in Need. Funds help support students who no longer have the benefit of being in school every day. Provide meals and urgently needed supplies. Help students to continue learning by providing devices, digital libraries and books with the money raised. We've got Dr. Phil plugging the short code as well as CBS LA, iHeartRadio, and the LA Chargers. Total raised: $350,000.

Ryan Gordy Foundation: 60 Years of Motown

Affair: Ryan Gordy Foundation: 60 Years of Motown

Deets:  In celebration of Motown Records’ 60th anniversary, the Ryan Gordy Foundation (RGF) honored founder Berry Gordy and music legend Smokey Robinson at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. The event featured a silent auction with items ranging from Swarovsky earrings, lithographs by Matisse, Renoir and Picasso, a Houston Rockets suite and a Robinson meet and greet. Hosted by comedian Chris Tucker and helmed by chairperson Frances Robinson, the dinner and awards event raised $250,000 toward the building of a center for the RGF.

Launched in 2017, RGF is named after Gordy’s grandson Ryan, who died of leukemia at the age of 29 in 2016.  The Ryan Gordy Foundation is dedicated to inspiring a lifelong commitment to wellness through patient advocacy, wellness education and disease prevention.

Who You May Spot: The event brought a glittering array of stars and personalities from the entertainment and sports worlds including Lionel Richie, Paris and Prince Jackson, producer David Foster and Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Tina Knowles Lawson, actor and comedian Bill Bellamy, commentator, and retired NBA player Robert Horry, Katharine McPhee, Omarion,  boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard.

Los Angeles Master Chorale Gala

Deets: The event featured a glittering post-concert gala for 255 that raised $275,000 for the chorale's artistic and education programs. At the gala, which had production by Gerry Huffman of Smash Event and flowers from Chris Matsumoto of CJ Matsumoto and Sons, the chorale's  signature "Surround Sing" saw 115 members of the chorale form a circle around the entire room with Gershon conducting from the center. The stunt literally surrounded the attendees with song and afforded a unique musical experience totally unlike seeing a stage performance.

Deets:  WildAid, the global conservation organization leading the fight to end the illegal wildlife trade, honored Academy Award-winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o, as this year’s Wildlife Champion at its annual fundraising gala. This year the event raised a staggering $1.8 million that will go towards WildAid's mission of ending illegal wildlife trade. 

“A Night in Africa,” featured musical entertainment, captivating performances from The Cirque and the Compton Kidz Club, and a vegetarian meal specially curated by the Beverly Wilshire following a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception with specialty drinks made with the newly released Elegance Vodka by Elegance Brands Inc. Attendees participated in a silent auction and live auction offering luxury items and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
